We like to make Farming Tools one of our annual holiday campaigns because the need is great ... and constant. Pretty much everyone in Dekpor is a subsistence farmer. Without owning a tractor or rototiller, they attempt to clear unploughed land to grow crops. Even the maintenance weeding is a huge, difficult chore. The preferred tools are an adze and a machete, so that is precisely what DSDO distributes.
In December of last year, an incredible $5150 was raised, which allowed us to purchase 275 tools! This total number of tools is more than anticipated since we were able to get a discount on bulk purchases. In January, 200 machetes and 75 adzes were distributed to people who desperately needed some help. What a practical gift!
This puts our DSDO total of farming tools distributed-to-date at 532!
Thank you to everyone who contributed!
