Now, it may sound funny to have a project called Chairs, but alas, we have been hoping for a large quantity of stacking chairs for the Dekpor Basic School library for many years now. The search has been ongoing.
All of a sudden, last fall, the chair gods were smiling! First we found 159 for sale at a reasonable price, and then a couple of weeks later, the same seller found 24 more. A week after that, DSDO-supporter and fellow-chair-hunter, Lourita Lue-Shing, let Carol know about an ad for free chairs in St. Catharines. The connection made, it was wonderful that the Knights of Columbus Council 1394 donated 51 stacking chairs!
Yes! That is a total of 234 chairs for the library! Take a look at the photos. These will last a lot of years and eliminate the constant challenge of repairing handmade benches.
