Shipping 2025

Carol in the driver's seat with thumbs up, interior of van filled with stacking chairs

Shipments deliver JOY!  Goodness, it is a LOT of work, but the recipients of items are always thrilled!

You may, however, notice that some people in the photos appear rather straight-faced.  Well, that is due to being entirely overwhelmed and also, culturally-speaking, it is considered rude to smile for such a serious event.  It takes some prompting to get most to smile!

When the timing is right, (meaning we have the funds, the space, and the time), Carol starts a collection in Newmarket/Aurora.  Countless hours are put into getting things ready before goods can even leave Ontario.  After the trip(s) to the shipper near Toronto's Pearson Airport, there is the 2 month voyage. Then someone from Dekpor has to travel to Accra to secure a trotro and load it at the shipper in Ghana, travel back to Dekpor, and sort before a distribution can take place. With hundreds of eager recipients, it is a challenging job to get photos of everyone.

Note:

  • Cell phones, tablets, and laptops remain the most NEEDED items.
  • Always contact Carol first before dropping off anything, please. We can share a list of items that we accept.

Financial allocations to the shipping fund are always appreciated!

September & October 2024 -- 50 items

Hold onto your hats...this is going to take some patience as you search for your donated items.  The shipments from September and October got combined at the shipper's in Toronto before take off and ended up arriving at different times and all mixed up.

In the September shipment, there were 20 shipping bags, 2 boxes, 4 chairs, 13 suitcases, and a small package.  What is included? The whole typical mish mash of everything! Sewing machines, cell phones, tech items, baby clothes, construction saftey wear, shoes, fabric, sewing notions, medical supplies, educational goods and more!

The October drop-off was a much smaller load (8 suitcases, 3 shipping bags, 1 bike, and 1 stack of kindergarten chairs).

Lovely donors, you'll need to take a look through all of the albums. Happy hunting!
